Hermina Podomoro Hospital, together with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), held a blood donation event for the general public as well as hospital employees in commemoration of Hermina Hospital's 39th anniversary.

The benefits of this blood donation activity are significant, both for blood recipients and the donors themselves. Some of the main benefits of blood donation include:

1. Saving Lives: Donated blood can be used for blood transfusions in patients experiencing accidents, major surgeries, or other serious medical conditions. By donating blood, individuals can directly save the lives of others.

2. Improving Health: Regular blood donation can also help improve the health of donors. The process of blood donation aids in the regeneration of new blood cells, thereby stimulating the production of new blood cells in the body.

3. Early Health Detection: Before donating blood, individuals undergo a series of health screenings to ensure that they are eligible to donate. This can help in the early detection of some health conditions that may not have been diagnosed yet.

4. Reducing the Risk of Heart Disease: Regular blood donation is associated with a reduced risk of heart disease. This may be because by reducing the number of red blood cells in the body, blood donation can help reduce blood viscosity, thus reducing the risk of blood clots that can lead to heart disease.

5. Inspiring Others: When someone becomes a blood donor, they can also inspire others around them to do the same. This can help build awareness in the community about the importance of blood donation and increase the available blood supply.

The blood donation activities carried out by Hermina Podomoro Hospital together with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) are a very positive step in helping the community and contributing to the provision of a stable and sufficient blood supply.
